The Video Games Live orchestra and choir perform the theme from “Civilization IV” in this excerpt from the new “Video Games Live” PBS special. VGL, coming to TV for the first time in summer 2010 on PBS, is an immersive concert event featuring music from the biggest video games of all time. Filmed in New Orleans with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and choir, watch as top musicians from around the world perform along with exclusive video footage and music arrangements, synchronized lighting, solo performers, guitarists, percussionists, live action and unique interactive segments to create an explosive one-of-a-kind entertainment experience. The PBS special — consisting of never before televised live musical performances from the Mario, Zelda, Sonic, Halo, Warcraft, Final Fantasy, Castlevania, God of War, Civilization, Chrono Cross, StarCraft and Guitar Hero franchises, and a musical journey through classic gaming — premieres July 31, 2010 and airs throughout August onPBS stations (check your local listings at pbs.org ). @CaptHayfever There actually were no auditions for this, Ron (on the left) is the original singer for this poeice, me (on the right) was chosen after singing this solo with VGL when they cam here to Buffalo.

@KendrewAmir Just to clarify, that’s you on the right relative to the stage, correct? So for a viewer of the video, you would be on the left?
Love the piece and the solos, btw. You both have beautiful voices.

A really powerful piece, playing Vanilla Civ IV I would sometimes just turn up the volume on the title screen and listen. WGL wasn’t familiar to me before I stumbled over the link to this on Civfanatics, I’m definately going to keep track of it from now and hope to be lucky enough to catch a show sometime ! @Kendrewamir and the other lead singer if he follows this.. I’m deeply impressed, hope to hear more from you.

@KendrewAmir Fantastic performance Amir, it is rare to see one of the performers comment on their video. I have ~30 000 videos viewed on youtube over the years, this is one of my 140 favorites.
